Post: CAREER CHANGE- ADVICE NEEDED
Hello,
I sm new to the field of education, for the last ten years
I worked in the telecommunocations field and I felt the
need for a change. My undergraduate degree is in Business
Finance. I am thinking of enrolling at Touro College MS in
Early childhood, Spec. Ed Birth to Grade 2.
I decided to take the NYSTCE exams and so far I have passed
the LAST, ATS-W and the CST MULTISUBJECT on my own.
Sad to say I am feeling a bit lost. I would like to know:
What are my chances of getting a job once I complete the
degree? (no teaching experience) and what can I do to
improve my chances?
What is the general opinion of Touro College? i.e
reputation?
Sspeaking w/ Touro college they told me that I do not get
any assistance as far as placement for the praticum course.
I would have to find a school on my own to complete that
requirement. Is this the norm?
It almost feels like I am being thrown to the wolves
without any guidance. They also mentioned the internship
certificate after completing 18 credits.
Seems like the program at Touro is geared to those who are
already teaching not for someone who is completly new to
the field. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you
