    At the beginning of "Mr. Hollands Opus", we learn that Glen went into
    teaching because he wanted more time to work on writing his music. His
    motivation for entering the profession was summers off. The gym teacher
    scoffs at him, knowing full well that teachers truly don't have the extra
    time that some think they'll get if they go into the profession. As he
    learns quickly, teaching is very time consuming and psychologically
    draining.

    I would suggest that if time off and a shorter technical work day is a
    chief motivation in your choice, you should steer far clear.
