Social work is not a seasonal gig, but if you want to establish
private practice, that's another story (check those conflict of
interest rules). But what will you do- walk away from your clients
or cases in September? Plus, it takes a while to get a practice
going.
As to your other query, social workers are not on the teacher
salary schedule- they have a schedule of their own, so you would
not be moving up the same scale (although the MSW could go towards
a +30- or higher outside NYC).
I doubt that you'd find any teachers doing this as a part time job.
Why would they? Low pay relative to the stress. You may as well
teach summer school.
